In preparation for the forthcoming release of their self-titled debut album, UNIFIED THEORY are set to release their first single “California” to radio on July 18 and have also confirmed the first of many upcoming West coast performances. Consisting of lead singer/guitarist CHRIS SHINN; ex-Blind Melon members guitarist CHRISTOPHER THORN and bassist BRAD SMITH; and DAVE KRUSEN, Pearl Jam’s drummer on their TEN debut album, UNIFIED THEORY have delivered an album filled with hypnotic guitar lines, textured soundscapes, expansive, catchy melodies and soaring vocals. Produced by THORN, SHINN and SMITH and mixed by David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Tool, Remy Zero), UNIFIED THEORY’s album will be released August 15 on the 3:33 Music Group label (distributed by Universal). “California,” with its alt-aggro grrove and urgent harmonies, is a song about “letting all the good times of your life really sink in and living in the moment,” says SMITH. “When I was writing the lyrics for that song, I kept thinking of all the crazy stuff I went through when I first moved to California. All the low wages and traffic and high rent did not matter--it was the only place for me at that time…The song is about standing on your own two feet and giving your dreams a fair shake no matter how impossible they may seem.” UNIFIED THEORY will be delivering their intense live show throughout the summer (see below for confirmed dates so far) including stops in Los Angeles and their hometown of Seattle.
